East Arm has executed Stages 3 and 4 arrangements in accordance with the <Darwin Port Corporation Cyclone Management Plan 2010-11> . The Darwin Port Corporation Chief Executive has advised non-essential staff to remain home on Wednesday 16 February 2011 and to keep appraised of community announcements for their own safety.  The Northern Territory Government will be monitoring the situation in relation to tomorrow, and all government workers should listen to the radio and other media outlets for advice. Cyclone Watch - 15 February 2011

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has issued a Cyclone Watch for a developing tropical low for coastal areas from Daly River Mouth to Goulburn Island, including Darwin, Croker Island and the Tiwi Islands.Gale force winds are likely to affect the area within the next 24 hours, however they could develop later. The latest details of the tropical cyclone/low may be obtained from the BoM website at http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/cyclone/ The DPC Cyclone Plan Stage One actions are now to be undertaken. » Read more

Ship’s Crane Incident – East Arm Wharf

An incident occurred at East Arm Wharf today at 10:40 am, involving the vessel MV “Mell Singapore”, when a ship’s crane discharging an empty 40ft ISO container malfunctioned, leaving that container resting on other containers on the ship. Launch of New Environmental Management System

The Darwin Port Corporation launched a new Environmental Management System (EMS) on 24 December 2010.  A key part of the EMS is the development of an Environmental Management Plan for East Arm Wharf.  The EMP is intended as a high level dynamic framework, which will be regularly reviewed.   The EMP will act as a point of reference to guide and inform all future EAW planning and management activity.   » Read more

Container Crane Incident - East Arm Wharf

A critical near miss occurred on East Arm Wharf on Monday, 10 January 2011 at around 15:00 pm. The circumstances of the incident are that at approximately 3:00 pm on Monday, the Darwin Port Corporation’s container crane rolled and hit a crawler crane operating on the wharf, that crawler crane’s boom then broke and fell onto a pantec truck parked alongside.  No one was injured. » Read more
