The Corporation welcomes Peter Raines

The Corporation welcomes Peter Raines to the new role of General Manager City Wharves this week. Peter has joined us after a short retirement. Peter was the joint owner of the Bank of Queensland Darwin franchise and previously the Managing Director for Sterling Property Services in the Northern Territory. Peter is the former chairman of the Cullen Bay Marine Management and has an extensive background in contract maintenance operations. As General Manager City Wharves, Peter is responsible for Marina and Retail operations, cruise facilitation and the City Wharf facilities. » Read more

Darwin Port assists with international FPSO mooring chain corrosion study

Appointment of Captain Ian Niblock as Harbourmaster of the Port of Darwin

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Captain Ian Niblock as Harbourmaster of the Port of Darwin.  Ian brings to the Darwin Port Corporation an exceptionally strong operational background in both navigation safety and marine oil spill response.  A master mariner, Ian has had a very successful career as a harbour pilot, commencing his training as an apprentice pilot in Liverpool in 1973.  » Read more

Vessel Traffic Service goes live

The Darwin Port Corporation has stepped into the 21st Century, going live this week with its Vessel Traffic Service (VTS). Up until recently, the Corporation’s harbour control consisted of radio contact with large and small vessels, all without any visibility of Darwin Harbour. » Read more

Copper Concentrate Loadout Completed

Port Corporation Chief Executive, Robert Ritchie said loading of around 10,100 tonnes of copper concentrate was complete at approximately 17:50 hours today. The "MV Aurora D" is expected to depart at around 20:30 hours. » Read more
