The 12th annual Darwin Harbour Clean-up day hosted by Larrakia Nation, was held at various locations around Darwin Harbour on 13 October. As well as removing rubbish from the waters and coastline of the harbour, the clean-up aims to raise awareness about the effects of rubbish entering our waterways and encourages everyone to 'Bin it or take it with you'.
This year Darwin Port participated by volunteering a team who hit the water to target the waterways and small islands around the harbour. In total the team collected eight bags of rubbish, a large beach umbrella from Catalina Island, a mattress from Wickham Point and rubber back material sheet from East Arm. It was a great effort by the team and we are always proud to be part of such an important day of protecting our harbour.
