NEW APPLICANT PROCESS
Conditions of entry
All persons wishing to enter a Darwin Port site for work must complete the Port Induction process prior to entry.
1. APPLICATION TYPES
There are 2 types of Port Passes available:
- a free 1-month pass
- a 24-month pass which costs $82.50 inc. of GST.
You may only apply for a 1 month pass once in a 24-month period.
Replacement Port Passes will incur a fee of $33.00 inc. GST.
2. EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS
Employers are required to declare that the employee they wish to induct has an operational need to access a Darwin Port site. Employers must ensure that all employees have a current Darwin Port Induction and follow any direction given by Darwin Port whilst onsite.
Employers are required to comply with the Conditions of Entry and follow all reasonable directions or requests from a Darwin Port representative to ensure your activities do not cause any adverse actions to the safety, environment, security, or operational management of the workplace.
It is the Employers responsibility to notify Darwin Port and return the port pass of employee’s who have left their company. Employers must also notify Darwin Port of lost or damaged Port Passes to organise a replacement.
3. EMPLOYEE REQUIREMENTS
Employees are required to complete their own induction and read and understand the Conditions of Entry.
It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that their port pass is valid, employees with expired port pass will not be granted access to Darwin Port Sites.
Port Passes are only to be used by the person who is named on the port pass.
Employees must follow all reasonable directions and requests from Darwin Port representatives to preserve the safety, environment, and security of all Port operations.
4. PORT ENTRY
Darwin Port reserves the right to remove persons from a Darwin Port workplace if it is found their actions or anticipated actions will any type of incident. A Darwin Port Enforcement Officer may confiscate a Port Pass or Trainee Completion Certificate for an indefinite period of time. Port Pass’s and Trainee Completion Certificate’s remain the property of Darwin Port.
5. PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS
A 2-year port pass must be paid via credit card using the online payment system prior to completing the Darwin Port Induction.
Replacement Port Passes will need to be paid for over the phone via credit card prior to collecting the replacement Port Pass
7. PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
All Darwin Port facilities operate under the legislated requirements of the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003. Darwin Port obtains information via the Online Registration to determine the identity of the Port User requesting access onto a Darwin Port site. This information is retained in accordance with Darwin Port’s Privacy Policy available on the Darwin Port website. Failure to provide this information in full may result in refusal of access to Darwin Port facilities.
8. VISITORS
Visitors must complete the Visitor Safety Security Induction provided at Front Gate Security. Whilst on site, the visitor/s shall always be under escort by the engaging Port Pass holder. Visitors must not undertake any work at any time.
9. PORT ENTRY PASS COLLECTION DAY AND TIMES
Collection times can be found in the booking system once the induction has been completed.
10. PORT USER UNDERSTANDING
All Port Users must understand the nature of the working environment at all Darwin Port sites and ensure any directions given by Darwin Port representatives are followed. It is expected that on entry you will contribute towards maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, be environmentally responsible and security conscious.
