Darwin Port were pleased to recently host Brett Wilson, a Year 10 Haileybury Rendall boarder from Peppimenarti through the Clontarf Foundation for three days of work experience.

Brett was shown firsthand the daily operations of the Port by being provided with exposure to multiple on-site locations between East Arm Wharf, Fort Hill Wharf and Darwin Harbour.

An insight was provided into the working life of our Marine Pilots and supporting crew by spending time aboard Pilot Vessel 'Osprey'. He experienced a run out to a livestock vessel where a Darwin Port Pilot disembarked before picking up a second Pilot from berthing an INPEX LNG vessel. He also experienced the maintenance required for the Pilot boats by assisting with daily engine room checks and cleaning of the vessels.

Brett was also introduced to the boilermaker and electrical trades undertaken at our maintenance workshop, located at East Arm Wharf.

Darwin Port is proud to support the Clontarf Foundation by welcoming the students into our workplace with hands-on experiences, enabling them to connect their interests with future employment prospects once the time comes.
